This display case is on display at the museum and reflects the early history of many “General Stores” in the first half on the 20th century. This case displays many of the goods for sale including candy and gum, most of which was priced at a penny or a nickel. Thus the term “Penny Candy” was selected for the goods.
Pequot Lakes Train Station Wood Stove
This wood stove is on display at the museum. It is the source of heat for weary travelers at the Pequot Lakes Train Station located where the Chamber Building is today. The stove was used in the early years and more information is available by clicking on the note on the second page of this post.

Dress from the 1920’s (The Flapper Era)
The women’s styles of the 1920’s featured a dresses which were worn as part of the “Flapper Era”. It swept America and many women bobbed their hair and danced to a new form of dance called “The Charleston”. This dress was worn and donated by Carolyn Buss, a longtime resident, who wore the dress for many local performances during the years.
